Joe Ring was born in the Northern Ontario mining town of Kirkland Lake . His father was Irish and his mother was Italian and was one 10 children. He grew up in this small town and lived a life like Tom Sawyer where fishing was the norm after school. His first career was when he became a plumber and worked at that for a number of years before venturing into the construction business. After years at that a severe accident left him bankrupt, divorced and recovering for a few years. After recovering he went to the Northern Alberta oil fields to work. While living in the resort community of Sylvan, he opened a Bed & Breakfast and a Limousine service company. In 2003 he began to work in film in Calgary .In the summer of 03, he sold his house and the B&B, along with the Limousine business and left his job in the oil fields and headed to Calgary to pursue his dreams of being in the movies. He enrolled in acting classes at the Canadian Casting Center and found work in 3 movies. His first film was a bit part in a scene with Don Johnson in Word of Honor, then "Family Sins" with Kristy Alley. After a summer in Calgary he relocated to Toronto where he split his time between construction and acting/modeling. In the winter of 2004 he went to Los Angele's to continue work in film. His first film was, No Rules, with Pamela Anderson and Tom Sizemore and directed by Gerry Anderson. More recently he has completed a lead role in a reality movie, All That I Need (2005), which will be making it's theatrical release on December 2005. He is presently in Toronto and recently appeared on the CBC program me The Hour , with George Stroumboloupolous and a lead roll in Curious and Unusual Deaths which is a series on The Discovery Channel. Joe is also spending spare time writing a book about his adventurous life.
In 2000 was a volunteer with the Canadian Olympic Association in Sydney Austraila.Was an owner of amateur baseball and hockey clubs.Also officiated hockey for 15 years.Recently completed lead role in an Indy Film called The Leaf. Character was 70 year old artist that never quite made it. This film was shot in Toronto by director Eric Gamache.
